Palacio Real

Royal opulence in the city centre

Palacio Real, Madrid

An extravagant and suitably opulent replacement for the original palace that burned down in 1734, the Palacio Real was the main royal residence up until the proclamation of the Second Republic in 1931.

The Royal Apartments

The royal apartments are sumptuously decorated with the magnificent frescoed Salón del Trono (Throne room), the intricate Sala de Porcelana (Porcelain room) and the elaborate oriental Salón de Gasparini among the highlights.
