Casa Alberto
Mix the traditional and the modern in this Madrid classic
It's been around nearly 200 years now and Casa Alberto has earned its reputation as a Madrid institution.
Behind the traditional zinc bar it serves up an excellent mix of new and traditional tapas and raciones, including morcilla (blood sausage) with goats' cheese, cod balls, stuffed courgettes and Madrid classics such as callos (tripe) and rabo de toro (oxtail).
C/Huertas, 18 (Metro Antón Martín/Sol)
Open: daily noon-1.30am. Closed Sundays in July and most of Aug.
