Hermane Rahal
Pots and clay tajines at local prices
Hermane Rahal is where local housewices come to buy their tajine casseroles. It’s also a good place to pick up jolly pottery goods in general.
If it's a ceramic tajine that you’re after, there are basically two types. Pretty, decorative tajines come from Safi, on the coast, while the ones you'd actually use for cooking are made of heavy glazed earthenware and are made in Sale, by Rabat. Both types come in various sizes. There are also plain, unglazed ones, which are cheaper but not as good.
Also from Safi there are all sorts of pretty bowls, cups and ash-trays which make great souvenirs.
Hermane Rahal isn’t a place for haggling, but their ethos is, basically, plie it high and flog it cheap, and their prices are bildi (that is, what locals pay).
