Terrasse la Medersa
Moroccan food in an old foundouk (l,d; $$)
With friendly service and free wi-fi, the Terrasse la Medersa is a great place to stop for lunch.
Housed in an old foundouk, the restaurant originally occupied just the rooftop – hence the "terrasse" bit of the name. You can still eat on the roof terrace if you want to, with views of the roof of the neighbouring Ben Youssef Medersa, and that explains the other part of the name.
They do the usual range of couscous dishes (chicken, lamb, veg or "royal", 55–80dh), and tajines include veg and chicken, or a choice of lamb ones (with prunes and almonds, or figs and walnuts, or apricots and cinnamon, 65–80dh). They also have brochettes, sandwiches, salads and soups.
This tends to be a better place for lunch than supper (by which time some of the dishes will have been reheated from lunchtime), or you can just stop by for a juice, a mocktail or a pot of tea.
