Mustapha Blaoui
huge home furnishings warehouse
When riads want props to furnish their interiors, Mustapha Blaoui is the man they come to.
Hidden away behind studded wooden doors (no sign but the number #144, just knock), Mustapha runs a huge warehouse and showroom full of rugs, carpets, cushions, lamps, furniture, pots, pans, knick-knacks, and all sorts of groovy home furnishings, both old and new. As the guidebooks inevitably say, an Alladin's cave, or failing that, Ali Baba's.
If you come in here, expect to buy things at your leisure. Big things, mostly (don't worry, they ship). Expect to bargain lazily over several cups of tea. It's so laid-back, you'll barely notice you're haggling. Prices are good, and so is quality.
This is a good place to buy carpets and home furnishings, but note that not everything sold here is Moroccan – there's a lot of stuff from West Africa and elsewhere too – so, if you only want to buy Moroccan items, make that clear from the start.
