Al Jawda
Marrakesh's finest traditional patisserie
For dainty little almond-stuffed Moroccan pastries, Al Jawda (sometimes spelt Al Jaouda) is the place to come.
Of course various patisseries around town sell these typical Moroccan petit four pastries, and most riads will serve them with your afternoon tea, but Al Jawda is particularly known for them. At 200dh/kg, almond pastries are slightly pricier here than in than some other places, but not outrageously so.
Crescent-shaped cornes de gazelle (“gazelle horns”) are the favourite almond pastries, but the little round and square ones are just as good. Al Jawda also sell more biscuity-type sweets, but the almond-stuffed pastries are the best.
