Ensemble Artisanal
Government-run crafts emporium
The Ensemble Artisanal is Marrakesh’s government-run crafts emporium, a handy place to check out local handicrafts with fixed (-ish) prices, no pressure and no haggling.
A little complex of nearly forty shops and workshops, the Ensemble Artisanal is a great place to come if you hate haggling, but also if you want to haggle in the souks, and want an idea of the going rates first. Prices here are slightly higher than they in the souks, but they can give you an idea of what kind of price to aim for.
It’s also a good place to browse without pressure – you can look at things in peace, check them out and compare them without the distraction of someone doing a sales pitch at you, and quality is usually good, although the range may be limited. Not all of the “silver” is genuine, but leather goods in particular are generally better quality than in the souks, and wooden carvings, carpets and textiles are usually good too.
