Long-distance shared grands taxis (taxi colectif, known in other Arab countries as service taxis) mostly operate from Place des Sept Saints, on Avenue du 11 Janvier, behind the gare routière intercity bus station. They take six passengers and leave when full.

Depending on the time of day, shared taxis may fill quickly or slowly. Luckily the gare routière bus station is close by, so if passengers are scarce, you can take the bus. Particularly for smaller destinations such as Essaouira, Ouarzazate and Taroudannt, it's worth checking when the next bus is due out (as a fall-back) before you go to see what the taxi situation is like, as they can take a while to fill up. Otherwise, if you want to leave immediately, you can pay for the remaining places yourself.
