Intercity Transport
Marrakesh is well connected to the rest of Morocco.
Trains run north to Casablanca, Rabat, Meknes, Fez and Tangier, while the train company ONCF runs its own Supratours buses to Essaouira, Agadir and the Western Sahara.
Ordinary intercity buses are cheap but can be slow and uncomfortable. State-run CTM buses and ONCF's Supratours buses are slightly more expensive but follow a tighter timetable and have more comfortable seats. Intercity shared taxis are faster, but arguably more dangerous.
- For Casablanca, there are loads of trains, ordinary buses and shared taxis, but the CTM bus is the best option, as it drops you in the city centre.
- For Rabat, the train is best, as Rabat Ville station is right in the city centre. There are ordinary buses and CTM buses too, but they leave you some way out.
- For Meknes and Fez, the train wins again, for both speed and comfort, with CTM buses a decent second choice, ordinary buses a poor third.
- For Essaouira, the Supratours bus is fast and comfortable, but ordinary buses are usually fine too. Shared taxis are slightly faster but can take ages to get enough passengers to leave.
- For Tangier, the overnight train is the winner. The bus journey is long and arduous.
- For Agadir, a shared taxi to Inezgane and then another one is usually the fastest option. CTM and Supratours buses are also fine. Ordinary buses can be very much slower.
