Cars & Motorbikes
It's difficult to see why a tourist would want to drive within Marrakesh, unless you already have a car because you've driven here from elsewhere.
Car rental makes more sense if you're going further afield, to Essaouira for example, or over the Tizi n'Test pass to Taroudannt. Cars, motorbikes, scooters, mopeds and quad-bikes can all be rented locally. Quad-biking is particularly popular in the Palmery.
Be aware that Moroccan drivers are not the world's best, and accident rates are high. Overtaking on blind curves and driving while talking on the phone are normal in Morocco for example. Driving in town is particularly taxing. Drive defensively, and always expect motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to suddenly move in front of you without warning.
Western driving licenses are valid in Morocco, and must be carried while driving, along with your passport. The minimum driving age is 21. Speed limits are 40km/h (25mph) in towns, 100km/h (62mph) on open roads, 120km/h (75mph) on motorways.
