Théâtre Royal
The Royal Theatre - المسرح الملكي
The Théâtre Royal is one of the Ville Nouvelle's big statement buildings.
Designed by Tunisian architect Charles Boccara, who was a big favourite with the late king Hassan II, the Théâtre Royal was inaugurated in 2001. Since then, it's been rather upstaged by the impressive new train station just across the street.
The theatre is in use for plays and operas, although parts of it are still being built. The foyer sometimes hosts art exhibitions. Nothing to go out of your way for, it is however worth a look if you're passing. If you're lucky, someone in the foyer may offer to show you around.
