Plaza Garibaldi
Cry in your beer with the mariachis
Mariachis, norteños (musicians from northern Mexico) and son jarochos (hailing from Veracruz) belt out traditional ballads on this vibrant square.
While on the plaza, drop by the Museo del Tequila y Mezcal, a museum celebrating Mexico’s most popular distilled agave drinks. For the classic Garibaldi cantina experience, duck into Salón Tenampa, a popular mariachi stomping ground for nearly a century.
The plaza itself is generally considered safe but do not wander around the surrounding neighborhood after dark and avoid hailing street cabs at all costs.
