Alameda Central
Downtown's iconic age-old park
Built in 1592, the rectangular Alameda is the oldest urban park in the Americas.
Rising above the park’s east end stands the opulent Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts), home to the Ballet Folklórico de México and some of the most important murals in Mexico, while on the park’s west side the Museo Mural Diego Rivera houses the famous Diego Rivera work Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in Alameda Park.
Other notable museums near the park include the Museo Memoria y Tolerancia and Museo Franz Mayer.
