Floralies Gardens
Floralies Gardens & Cultural Circuit
The parkland just north of the Montreal Casino belongs to the Floralies Gardens, a large landscaped garden where willow-shaded canals, leafy paths, benches and a soothing fountain all invite lingering. It’s the product of a 1980 flower show held here.
Paths lead around the west side of the island from here to the Plage des Îles, a pleasant beach and a lagoon where boat rental is offered.
A park-wide outdoor artistic treasure hunt is provided by the Parc Jean Drapeau Cultural Circuit: 13 giant sculptures scattered around the park.
The most famous, “Man” by Alexander Calder, was built for Expo 67, is close to the Metro station and comes complete with a nice view of downtown.
