Montreal Canadiens & The Bell Centre
The Habs (Oct–Jun)
The Montreal Canadiens ice hockey team play in the National Hockey League (NHL) against other top Canadian and US teams and have a pretty solid rivalry with a few - not least Toronto's Maple Leafs.
The Canadiens also have a long and illustrious history, which goes back to 1909, pre-dating the NHL (formed 1917) and including some 24 Stanley Cups – more than any other NHL team. Things have dried up a bit though: they last won the Cup in 1993.
The team is commonly nicknamed “The Habs”, short for Habitants, the French word used to describe Quebec's pioneering settlers, and play their home games Downtown in the Bell Centre.
Season tickets always sell out and individual game tickets are hard to come by, but check the website and search popular local classifieds site kijiji.ca
