Quartier des Spectacles

Nuit blanche, 1er mars 2014, Place des festivals, Montréal.

Quartier des Spectacles might be a manufactured "neighbourhood", but it's certainly a handy catch-all term for Montreal's performing arts district. Here various cultural venues gather around Place des Arts, a multi-level and perennially buzzing square.

Among the venues are performance halls, cinemas and live music clubs, including: Club Soda, MTELUS, Cabaret Just Pour Rire, Cinema Imperial and Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier.

Meanwhile there's almost always some kind of outdoor festival, exhibition or event going on the Place des Arts and the adjacent Place des Festivals, an urban park.

All this means helps make the area the top spot in the city to head to if you are at a loose end for something to do.
