La Ronde
Large amusement park in a prime location
Another throwback to Expo ’67, for which La Ronde was built as an entertainment complex: this spectacularly located amusement park whose rides corkscrew enticingly beneath the steel trusses of Jacques Cartier bridge.
The site is now owned and slickly managed by Six Flags, the world’s largest amusement park company, to provide a predictable set of thrills and attractions. This makes it a fixture on the calendars of many local families and a hangout for great cliques of local school-aged kids.
But there’s enough for the visitor too, with some sixty rides of various levels, including around a half-dozen serious roller-coasters from Le Monstre, a traditional wooden coaster — one of La Ronde’s originals — to Ednor (@youtube), a sea monster-themed coaster that will leave your stomach churning.
