Parc La Fontaine

Cheerful city park

montreal: evening in parc la fontaine

The relatively small, but well-loved Parc La Fontaine acts as a back garden for many Plateau dwellers, who start sprawling on its grasses as soon as the sun comes out.

The focal point is a small man-made lake, but there's often some public art competing for attention. There's more art in the lake-side pavillion, which also sports a pleasant modern bistro.

Beside the pavillion, the outdoor Theatre du Verdure presents free summer theatre, music and dance performances.

Other activities include tennis (fee, bring your own racket), while in winter the lake is maintained for ice-skating (free, rentals available).
