Chinatown

Entrance to Chinatown

The large iconic Chinese gate with temple-style roofs and marble lions that rises above boulevard St-Laurent is the most spectacular of several gates that announce the presence of Montreal's Chinatown.

Most Chinese immigrants and their descendants have moved elsewhere in the city but still use this as a commercial hub.

This means fine teas and herbal remedies are easy to find while a clutch of no-nonsense restaurants serve quality ethnic food and help provide an authentic vibe.
