Art
From the murals in the streets to multimillion-dollar-works in world-class galleries, Montreal is a city that loves its art.
For visitors the first place to look in on is the Place des Arts, where there is almost always some kind of free art installation or event taking place.
Overlooking the square is the Museé d’Art Contemporain, though there's often as much interesting contemporary art in the SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art – a gathering of galleries in an old department store building, a block down the road at 372 Saint-Catherine St W.
The one place not to miss on a visit is the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the city's grandest gallery, which always has engaging exhibitions.
Meanwhile, on the streets The Plateau is the place to be for street art - try downloading and following this walking tour by local graffiti bloggers Wall2Wall.
