Benjamin’s Bakery & Cafe
Family-owned & operated for 20+ years (b,l; $)
Benjamin’s is the largest bakery in the Myrtle Beach area, but you won’t notice that when you pop in to the side street entrance for a quick lunch or breakfast in the little cafe that resembles a grandma’s kitchen. It began as a little bagel shop and deli for transplants from the north who needed their favorite items. Then it grew until the bakery supplies about 100 local restaurants with specialty items.
The little cafe welcomes locals and visitors for breakfast, lunch and coffee or espresso. Smoothies and pretzels also make a good to-go order. Think about any bagel, muffin, baguette, croissant, bialy or cinnamon roll that your taste buds crave. Read the menu on the blackboard, order at the counter and find a seat. The cafe also features a small selection of jellies, a book shelf, a bit of local art and a display of collectibles. Doggie treats too!
You might want to grab a loaf of something special for later. Think about unique choices such as roasted red pepper asiago bread or a cranberry multi-grain for the appropriate season.
