Beaches

Myrtle Beach 2011-06-22 012_edited-2

Beaches are the key enticement bringing millions of visitors each year to the Myrtle Beach area. They're wide, clean and safe in dozens of different sections of town and inviting for swimming and sunning during late spring, summer and fall. Surfers find some summer fun but don't compare the Atlantic Ocean waves to those of the Pacific.

Beaches in South Carolina are public property and free to visit; free public access to the beach is plentiful throughout the Myrtle Beach area, although a few private neighborhoods and resorts have restricted access which should be noted. Check with each location to determine differing regulations for dogs, tents and parking availability, much of which varies during different seasons.

Remember to treat the beach with respect. Whether it’s a public access beach or accessed via a privately owned resort property, it may have different rules or restrictions, but a few tips should be remembered as common courtesies.
