Transport

Virtually all international visitors to New Zealand turn up by air. Flights from Europe come via North America, Asia or the Middle East.

Auckland is the main gateway airport, followed by Christchurch.

Wellington and Queenstown airports also receive international flights from Australia.

A small number of visitors arrive by cruise ship or yacht.

But if you’re already in NZ and feeling lazy, then consider heading to one of 70 i-Site Visitor Centres where staff will be happy to assist with transport bookings including, bus, rail, rental car and domestic flights.
