Rob Roy Track
Walk to foot of the glacier (4-5hrs return)
Starting at Raspberry Flat in the Matukituki Valley, west of Wanaka, the Rob Roy Track follows the Rob Roy stream up a side valley to the foot of the Rob Roy Glacier.
Expect dramatic alpine landscape including snowfields, glaciers, sheer rock cliffs and waterfalls on this 10km (return) hike.
A good adventure for the family.
Trailhead
Allow 1.5 hours driving from Wanaka to Raspberry Flat trailhead (this entry’s map location) – the road is unsealed from the Treble Cone Skifield turnoff and there are a number of river fords. Don’t go following heavy rain.
Visit Wanaka’s Mt Aspiring National Park Visitor Centre to check track conditions before heading out.
