Elephant Rocks
Massive boulders in a farm paddock
This amazing set of weathered limestone rocks, 23-25 million years old, sit in a farm paddock, 5km south of Duntroon, in the Maerewhenua Valley.
The massive, rounded, pock-marked boulders are surprisingly impressive and well worth the effort to get to. You’ll need your own wheels; there’s parking by the road.
There are likely to be sheep among the rocks so watch what you step in!
Elephant Rocks starred as a filming location in The Chronicles of Narnia.
