Art

Nice and the Côte d'Azur are well known as a favourite spot for for artists due to the quality of the light.

Two artists in particular stand out - Henri Matisse (1869-1954) and Marc Chagall (1887-1985) Both have Museums dedicated to them and located in Cimiez. Many others are associated with the area including Renoir, Picasso, Cocteau and Leger.

Of course you can enjoy Baroque art in many of the local churches, for example the Cathédrale Ste-Réparate in Vieux Nice. It that really inspires you, then consider following the Route du Baroque itinerary.

However, if your tastes are more contemporary then enjoy the The Seven Thinkers having their Conversation in Place Masséna or maybe admire the unusual Square Head or Téte au Carrée at the Acropolis.
