Ligne d’Azur Tramway
Blue Line Tramway at Nice
As you stroll through the expansive Place Masséna in the centre of Nice you cannot help noticing the beautifully smooth lines and graceful presence of the Nice Tramway as the cars glide along their tracks.
The Tramway, inaugurated in November 2007 has helped greatly to alleviate traffic congestion in the City. Furthermore, it has led to a much cleaner environment for both Niçois and out of town visitors .
The ‘U’ shaped route runs from Las Planas (Nice Nord) through Place Masséna, past Acropolis and up to Pont Michel. There are 21 stations along the 8.7km/5.4m route. Above all, trams run every 4 minutes at peak times (8 minutes off peak) for 21 hours per day (4.25am-1.25am). To view the route map touch here.
The Tram is ideal for getting to Old Nice/Vieux Nice (stops: Opéra or Cathédrale), Place Garibaldi, the Tête au Carrée, the Gare Nice Ville and of course the shops on Avenue Jean Médecin.
