La Bollene-Vésubie
A mountain village on the route of the Monte Carlo Rally
Located on a small hilltop high above the Vésubie Valley, on the route of the Monte Carlo Rally and leading up to the Col de Turini and Authion Massif, la Bollène-Vésubie is a pleasant village of 600 or inhabitants known locally as ‘les Bollénois’.
Great views
Dating back to the 12th century, Bollène was a Lordship in the County of Nice. There are some interesting streets to wander through and nice views from the centre. Better still is the vista from the road above the village leading to the Col de Turini.
Don’t miss: the Musée des Papillons or butterfly museum (free entry) which is open at weekends during the Summer. It is curated by botanist and mountain guide Jean-Luc Desrayaud.
