Cusco City Day Hikes
There are so many reasons why the Travel Channel rated Cusco in the top 10 hiking cities in the world!
The city was the center of the Q’hapaq Ñan, the network of Inca trails that linked most of South America. With Cusco as the nucleus, Inca trails spread out in all directions over more than 30,000 km (18,640 miles). The trail network has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2014. Below is part of the section that leads from the San Blas neighborhood to the Temple of the Moon.
There’s tons more information on the Cusco Hike Club Facebook page. They even have detailed trail maps on Google Earth.
Most of these hikes are described on my article about 15 Inca sites near Cusco, published in Matador Network. If you are on a strict budget, check out my list of 10 Free Inca sites, which are all places you can go by foot, for free.
Shorter walks
You don’t actually need to leave town to get a good walk and see amazing archeological sites. Check out my list of Cusco’s Inca Sights.
