Parque Kennedy
Dancing, antiques & cats
Parque Kennedy is my personal favorite place in Lima because you can see so many diverse sides of life in Lima. There is a small amphitheater that is filled every day with locals dancing all kinds of Latin dances: cumbia to tango. There is an antiques and artisans’ market in another area of the park, which has the most vendors in the evenings and on weekends.
Another odd quirk of Parque Kennedy is the cats. There is an area where locals come every evening to feed stray cats. During the day, you can see the city’s strays sleeping in the flower beds.
Adjacent is Parque 7 de Junio, which has a great playground for kids. The two parks are surrounded on all sides by some of the best bars and restaurants in Lima.
