Cordillera Negra
If you want spectacular views of the Cordillera Blanca, without the high-altitude climbing and snow, check out the Cordillera Negra, which runs parallel to the west.
The highest peaks are around 5000m (16,400ft), which means that there is little snow accumulation, especially in the dry season (May–September).
The Cordillera Negra has fewer established hiking routes, though some agencies in Huaraz will still organize hikes there for you. It is not part of the national park, so there are no entry fees. However, it’s a great place to spot wildlife and interesting flora like the Puya Raimondii.
