Cordillera Blanca Mountaineering

If you love technical mountaineering, the Cordillera Blanca is the place for you!

Climbers come from around the world to summit the 30 peaks above 6000m (19,685ft). Though containing Peru’s highest peaks this mountain range is unexplored enough that teams are still making first ascents of some peaks and creating new routes up others.

July 8-9, 2022 the Slovenia team of Andrej Jez, Anja Petek and Aritza Monasterio summited Huascarán on a new route. There are still plenty of firsts to be had in the Cordillera Blanca!

Among a long list of spectacular peaks, Alpamayo and Artesonraju are famous for their beauty. Alpamayo is frequently voted among the most beautiful mountains in the world. Artesonraju (below) is the logo for Paramount Pictures.
