Hotel Negresco
The world renowned Belle Époque Negresco Hotel (b,l,d: €€€)
A Belle Époque Landmark
The splendid Belle Époque Hotel Negresco on the fabulous Promenade des Anglais can’t be missed and is well worth going to see even if you are staying elsewhere!
About 600m/650yds west of the Tourist Office on the Promenade, the Negresco is well placed to enjoy all the attractions of modern Nice and Vieux Nice and even has it’s own private beach just across the road.
Three Restaurants
With 96 rooms and 21 suites ranging from the Superior to the De-Luxe all equipped with period furniture drawing inspiration from Louis XIII through to the contemporary period. All have LCD TV and WiFi access. There are three restaurants including the finest establishment in Nice, Le Chantecler, which boasts a two starred Michelin Chef!
A disappointed Czar
Spare a thought for one of those crowned heads though. The Baccarat crystal chandelier now in the Royal lounge, commissioned by the unfortunate Czar Nicolas II makes a splendid centrepiece. However, the doomed monarch was unable to take delivery and enjoy it, due to the events of 1917 in Russia.
