Day 2: Lochcarron–Torridon

53–95 miles; 3–4hrs

This is a day to be spent on the Applecross Penninsula. It’s named for Applecross, a tiny village gathered around an idyllic little bay which boasts a vast and spectacular panorama of the Isle of Skye: its brooding mountains rise up from sea lochs all around.

It’s certainly worth a visit, but it comes at the price of a having to traverse Bealach na Ba, one of Scotland’s most difficult, if spectacular passes, at least once – possibly twice if you don’t fancy the twisty minor road around the northern part of the peninsula.

Bealach na Ba is the sort of pass that delights fit road cyclists and terrifies first-time motorhome drivers. You’ve been warned!

The sequence of points-of-interest along the route is: Lochcarron - Kishorn Seafood Bar - Applecross - Torridon.
