Tarbat Discovery Centre

Pictish culture & art

Pictish carvings

The modest Tarbat Discovery Centre occupies a church on a back street of Portmahomack, a pleasant fishing village in a sheltered spot on the Dornoch Firth.

It was at this church that 1980s archeological digs revealed all manner of Celtic designs that illustrate how Pictish culture thrived in here before Viking raids drove them away.
