John o' Groats

Land's End's brother

John O'Groats

John o' Groats is famed in partnership with Land’s End (in Cornwall, Engl), the other end of a cult crossing of mainland Britain between its northeast and southwest extremities, which has been a challenge for walkers, cyclists and others since the 1870s.

So that’s why John o' Groats is famous. But being famous for being famous comes at a price, which is that the tiny village is dominated by a vast car park and several fairly trashy souvenir shops. The “famous” sign is here though.

Otherwise the most interesting option in town is the walk to the Stacks of Duncansby.
