Day 6: Tongue–Wick
83 miles/2hrs
By Tongue you’ll have left the rockier parts of the journey behind and traded it for bleak but beautiful, and often dramatic, moorland scenery interspersed with sea lochs.
Things begin to flatten around Thurso, so that the drive to the small city of Wick, though still scenic, is very different to what’s west. Though the impressive coastline continues (including at the Stacks of Duncansby), the backdrop is a patchwork of agricultural fields.
The sequence of points-of-interest along the route is: Tongue - Strathnaver Museum - Thurso - Mary Ann's Cottage - Castle & Gardens of Mey -
John o' Groats - Stacks of Duncansby - Wick
