The Lost Valley

Idyllic Highland valley: 3hrs • Easy • 4 miles

Near Glencoe Lost Valley

Beginning from the centre of Glencoe, the Lost Valley is a lovely half-day hike that provides easy access to wild and peaceful Highland scenery, exploring the glen where Clan MacDonald traditionally fled and hid cattle when attacked.

The hike begins from a car park on the A82 road opposite three distinctive rock buttresses called the Three Sisters and climbs alongside the Allt Coire Gabhail burn,

As you hike up to the head of the pretty valley, the superb views of the imposing upper slopes of Bidean nan Bian, Gearr Aonach and Beinn Fhada, just keep improving. Paths lead up to these from the head of the valley, but they are much larger and more difficult undertakings – needing at least 6hrs and real preparedness for poor weather. Click here for route info with downloadable gpx files on Bidean nan Bian.
