Cameron House

Boutique luxury on Scotland’s showiest loch (b,l,d; £££)

loch_lomond_cameron_house

This slick hotel in a baronial-style mansion on the banks of Loch Lomond doesn’t seem to loose character for being part of a chain (the DeVere Group) or having furnishings that are more contemporary boutique than antique country-house.

Instead the place does manage to reflect the “majestic world of heather-dappled glens and roaring open fires” as its marketing blurb puts it, in the hotel's “graceful nod to the Loch’s wild and baronial past.”

The rooms also celebrate Scottishness, with their dark wood and tartan decor, and include the likes of monsoon showers, ipod docks, Egyptian cotton linen and high end toiletries.

Diners can chose from four restaurants, including the Michelin-Starred Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond, one of Scotland’s best. And there’s a dedicated whisky bar too.
