Edinburgh & Around
Attractive capital city & surroundings
Scotland's hugely attractive capital Edinburgh is a key destination for most visitors and given its many sights and good after-hours scene you should certainly plan to spend at least a couple of nights here.
Meanwhile The Lothians – East, West and Mid-Lothian, the three administrative regions around the city – provide lots of easy and attractive escapes should you find yourself in Edinburgh for any length of time. Golf courses, sandy beaches and sizeable hills are among the highlights.
A little beyond the fringes of West Lothian, but within easy reach of the city, lies the Falkirk Wheel, an incredible elevator between two canals, a visit to which is readily combined with other West Lothian attractions, or even those in and around Stirling.
