Glenfinnan Monument
Memorial to the 1745 Jacobite Uprising
It was near here that Bonnie Prince Charlie first raised his standard to begin the 1745 Jacobite uprising, as the onsite visitor centre explains.
He quickly went from a small group of men to a sizeable force which enjoyed real moments of success before ending in misery at Culloden Moor.
The landscape around the monument is inspiring, and the nearby viaduct a key scenic spot on the journey of the Jacobite Steam Train.
