What to buy
Whether you’re looking for a cool item of home decor that is totally Thai or souvenirs for family and friends, shopping is great fun in Thailand.
The only problem is that you’ll probably be tempted to buy items you never thought of and end up with your bags bulging on the journey home.
When travelling off the beaten track, keep your eyes open for the OTOP sign, which means ‘one tambon (district), one product’. This means a region is famous for producing a particular product, such as colourful parasols or intricately decorated ceramics.
