Last Drop Inn

York beer and bangers (l,d; £)

Simple, if not rather spartan, pub near the Shambles, owned with beers by York Brewery. Nevertheless its staff had a reputation for being friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, it was closed in 2023. It is missed by many fans, who hope for a new pub on the same premises.

It specialises in Black Sheep beers, such as Centurion's Ghost Ale and Yorkshire Terrier.

(A sister pub, belonging to the same Black Sheep Brewery with an equally macabre name (last drop referring to execution gallows), though somewhat livelier, is the Three-Legged Mare, near the Minster. So far, this pub remains open.)
