Markets

There have been street markets of various kinds in York since the middle ages, including next to the Shambles.

The last Friday of every month is given over to a local Farmers' Market with local produce, bread, foods and crafts.

As well as Shambles market, York sometimes features speciality markets in nearby Parliament Street. These include from craft, fairtrade and Yorkshire food markets. Continental markets, lasting several days, with visiting stallholders from the European continent, are also an occasional and popular feature of the York market scene.
