Atlantis Submarine
A magical underwater world
A favourite family outing, the Atlantis submarine gives novice or non-swimmers a chance to experience the mysterious underwater world that normally only divers and snorkellers get to see. You’ll be peering through your porthole in air-conditioned comfort while a full guided commentary explains about the coral reefs, kaleidoscopic fish and sunken shipwrecks as you glide past.
The whole tour last around two hours, including transfer to and from the sub by boat, topped off with a rum punch. In total, you spend about 40mins submerged in the submarine. Night tours after 5pm may run on demand, and cost US$10 more.
The success of this activity is very dependent on the sea conditions – if the weather has been rough the sea bed can be churned up and the water a little murky, so enquire about conditions before booking.
Trips can leave on the hour, from 9am–3pm, depending on demand. Departures are from the Shallow Draft, near the entrance to the main port, just north of Bridgetown. Book online.
Adults US$112; Children US$59
Transport:
There is free parking where the submarine tours depart. Free hotel transfers are also available. Otherwise, buses, such as the #3 ZR from the Princess Alice Bus Terminal (Bridgetown), can drop you at Kensington Oval, which is a 5-minute walk away. Check the bus timetables.
