Kids & Families

Barbados is a fabulous family-friendly destination, with plenty to keep kids (young and old) entertained. What’s more, on such a small island, places take no time to reach, guaranteeing parents a holiday free from: “Are we nearly there yet”?

Barbados’ glorious beaches are obviously the biggest draw, with the sheltered waters of Carlisle Bay in Bridgetown, a great place to start.

Fun in the water

Besides playing in the sand, and snorkelling in the shallows, there are water toys at The Boatyard, and stand-up-paddle and kayak rental further round the bay on Pebbles Beach. A catamaran cruise is another firm favourite with families, offering snorkelling off the boat and swimming with turtles. You can even explore underwater in the Atlantis submarine. For a complete contrast, head across to the East Coast, where the pebble-strewn beach and rock-pools of Bathsheba are fascinating for kids to explore.

Inland

Further inland, a tram ride underground in Harrison's Cave is a lot of fun, as is monkey feeding time at the Barbados Wildlife Reserve. Consider rounding off the day with a movie under the stars at the Globe drive-in.
