Tides

Sumptuous food in idyllic setting (l, d; $$$)

Tides is one of the island’s top restaurants. The waterside setting is sublime and the dishes are imaginative and beautifully presented. A-la-carte options include panko-coated calamari with a coconut lime dip and roasted lemon and flying fish with garlic mash, in a sweet pepper coulis and crispy okra. But save room for one of the desserts, (see below), for which the restaurant is justifiably renowned, and which are works of art.

Trio of underexposed creme brulee

Set in a converted coralstone house, the restaurant design is both distinctive – with tree trunks incorporated into the architecture – and elegant, with walls laden with art.

Good-value set menus are available for lunch and dinner (on certain days) and there’s a kids menu too. Check their website for times to catch their high-quality live music sessions.
