Fine dining
Barbados boasts some of the finest dining in the Caribbean (with prices to match), as award-winning chefs create exquisite dishes, and acclaimed mixologists conjure up mouth-watering cocktails. Fish dishes are inevitably a speciality, as the catch could not be fresher, but the menus are varied, with many international classics enjoying a local twist while traditional Bajan dishes, such as fishcakes and bread pudding, are given the gourmet treatment.
Yet, what makes a meal out truly memorable in Barbados is the romantic waterside setting. Most top restaurants are found on the West Coast, with a sprinkling in the southwest. Arrive in time to watch the sun dip below the sea as you sip your aperitif, before glowing torches and candlelight, reflected in the water, create a magical ambiance for dining.
The island’s most exclusive hotels inevitably offer top-notch a-la-carte dining, as well as superior buffets, but we’ve manly listed independent restaurants here, with the odd exception.
Some top restaurants also offer set lunch (and occasionally dinner) menus, which generally offer better value for money.
