The Fisherman's Pub
Over-the-water deck (l,d; $–$$)
A Speightstown institution, the Fisherman’s Pub is where the local workers pop in for their lunch break and tourists drop by to sample some traditional food. It’s a cafeteria-style set up, where you select individually priced items from a daily changing menu to be piled onto your plate – cou-cou, green bananas, saltfish, mac pie, flying fish, pigtails etc.
When freshly presented from around midday, the food is tasty, but it’s a less attractive prospect later in the day when it’s been sitting around in the bains-marie for hours.
Food aside, the Fisherman’s Pub boasts a fine location to linger over a drink, with an over-the-water wooden deck. Grab one of the outside tables that overlook the jetty. Plus, there’s often some evening entertainment, including live music and the inevitable karaoke.
