Salt Café

Creative gourmet comfort (l,d; $$)

This cosy family-run restaurant set back from the main road at Hastings offers creative gourmet comfort food in a relaxed setting, with a contemporary feel. Pretty lights and hanging baskets and plants amply compensate for the lack of sea view.

The menu is eclectic and creative, with plenty of Asian influences from bao buns to poke bowls and their signature soy and ginger glaze daubed on various dishes. The crispy calamari and plantain tostones are great for dipping while sipping a cocktail. Seating (indoors and outside on a semi-enclosed terrace) is limited, so book ahead.

Note: Take-away and curbside pickup possible
